Theatre enthusiasts watch 'Nar Nari Thankku Baba Lochandas' at Ravindra Manch in Jaipur

An adaptation of Hindi playwright Nag Bodas’ play 'Nar Nari Thankku Baba Lochandas' was staged recently at Jaipur’s Ravindra Manch by director Raju Kumar and his theatre group. As the name suggests, the play was about the complex man-woman relationship in today’s society.
Narrated in the traditional lok natya style of theatre or nautanki, the play had it all – good performances, item number and some lovely folk compositions.The play explored the emotional turmoil of a woman. “It’s an attempt to make men understand women in a better way by following this tradition of men dressing and behaving like women for seven days,” explained Kumar.
It had some beautifully choreographed dance sequences, like the item numberDosh Dosh Doshand Sarota Kahan Bhool Aaye, where the dancers even jumped off the stage to interact with the audience. The director and the actors, through this comedy drama, transported the audience to a world of adultery, vengeance and other human emotions albeit in a sarcastic way. “The play was quite interesting,” said Shashi Sharma who had come to witness the play.
